Description
-
Illustration in a book in which Dante breaks a twig that bleeds while Virgil stops him and points ahead. The twisted forest is filled with the souls of suicides, transformed into harsh, leafless trees. Harpies sit in the branches and feed on the leaves. In the background, two naked spendthrifts are chased and torn by savage hounds.
